Franco COLOGNI

Director, Compagnie Financière Richemont SA and Chairman, Cologni Foundation for Artistic Craft Professions

After graduating in Letters and Philosophy from the Cattolica University of Milan, he immediately embarked on a double career, both as a man of culture and an entrepreneur.
In his first role, he combined academic work with numerous journalistic and editorial publications, chiefly concerning the history of theatre, luxury, the arts and outstanding artistic crafts; to this day he still collaborates with numerous daily papers and magazines.
He is the Editor and director of the international magazine Cartier Art.
In his entrepreneurial role, he developed a forty-year specialization in the spheres of luxury; his long-standing experience in Cartier started in 1969, when he founded “Les Must de Cartier Italia” (Cartier first branch worldwide).
From being head of the Italian market, he went on to become General Manager, then Vice Chairman and finally Chairman of Cartier International. In 2000, after the French company became part of the  Richemont Group, he assumed the role of Executive Chairman for the Group’s entire jewellery and horology sector.
In October 2002 he became a Director of Compagnie Financière Richemont SA, a post he still holds.
He is also the Chairman of the international Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, based in Geneva.
In Milan he established the “Creative Academy”, an international design and creative management school.
In France he has been awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite, Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and Officier de la Légion d’Honneur for his contributions to culture and the economy.
For his entrepreneurial work, in Italy he was awarded Cavaliere del Lavoro (Knighthood for Work) in 2002.
