Creative Director and Designer, Costume National

Born in Lecce, South of Italy. After having studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, he moved to Tokyo where he becomes the collaborator of Yohji Yamamoto for two years. On his return to Italy, in 1986 he presented the first Costume National woman collection.
Designer and Creative Director of Costume National, Costume National Homme and C’N’C Costume National – the brand’s street-wear inspired line – Capasa is multi-faceted and a great explorer of the whole world of aesthetics, from architecture to design, from music to art.
Also recognized as a costume designer, his work includes “Lo Specchio di Frida”, a play based on Frida Kahlo’s life (1998) and “The rules of attraction”, a mise en espace of Bret Easton Ellis’s novel (2002). In 1999 he directed “Bright red: blood, transformation and transfiguration in contemporary art”, an exhibition for the Milan pavilion of Contemporary Art. In 2000 the city of Otranto commissioned him “Progetto Otranto” an urban design project.
In 2007, Assouline published Costume National 21, a photographic journey through Capasa’s work
featuring collaborations with famous photographers like Peter Lindberg, Terry Richarson, Jurgen Teller and Craig McDean and iconic characters such as Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Madonna.
Ennio Capasa lives in Milan with his wife, former model Dragana Kunjadic and their two children.
