Massimo CARRARO

Chairman and Ceo, Morellato

Massimo Carraro was born in Padova in 1959. The career which now sees him at the head
of Gruppo Morellato has been characterized by a culture of work as a passionate dedication
to challenges that are intellectual, social and economic and by a conviction that these
variables are always connected.
Carraro graduated in law at Padova and after doing a research doctorate at the Statale di
Milano he became a professor of comparative public law. He worked at the same time as
a practising attorney.
His “passion for doing things” led him in 1987 to join Gruppo Morellato, the family business
of which he is now chief executive officer. Carraro’s imprint became visible very rapidly.
From being a world leader in watch straps the Group grew into a diversified enterprise in
the watchmaking and easy to wear jewellery industry thanks to his innovative concept of
luxury: no longer a question of status symbols but a whole universe of desires and emotions.
Beyond the business world, his passion for doing things also involves wider community
and political commitments. He was president of an association of young entrepreneurs in
Padova from 1987 to 1991 and of a similar organization for the Veneto region from 1991 to
1994. He sat in the European parliament from 1999 to 2004.
Massimo Carraro is a lover of 17th and 18th century Venetian painting. He is also a traveller
enamoured of his own roots, being convinced that innovation can only grow out of
respect for one’s history.
