Frescobaldi

Lamberto FRESCOBALDI

Vice Chairman, Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi

Lamberto Frescobaldi, born in Florence on June 27, 1963, represents the thirtieth generation of this renowned Tuscan winegrowing family. His lifework has been the rivitalisation of the family’s notable portfolio of agricultural estates, from the point of view both of their products as well as of their financial performance.

Lamberto showed an obvious enthusiasm for agriculture even in his childhood, spending long periods of time in the countryside around Pelago, and began his activities in the family business quite early. During his summers, he gained the valuable experience that reinforced his passionate commitment to agriculture and led to his decision to dedicate himself totally to this centuries-old Tuscan tradition.

In 1987, after earning his degree in Crop Sciences at the University of Florence, he took up advanced studies in Viticulture at the University of California at Davis, California, one of the world’s premier institutes for viticulture and oenology.

His official duties in the family business commenced in 1989, and four years later, in November 1993, his uncle Carlo Marchi entrusted him with the directorship of the venerable I Collazzi tenuta near Florence, celebrated for its unique beauty and for the remarkably high quality of its wines.

In 1995, after the establishment of the first Italian joint-venture partnership, Luce della Vita, Lamberto directed its winemaking, along with Tim Mondavi, and in 2000, he was named Managing Director of Conti Attems S.r.l., one of Friuli-Venezia Giulia’s leading producers of white wine, which the family had acquired.

In 2005, he assumed the position of Managing Director of the Tenute di Castelgiocondo in Montalcino, one of the most prestigious producers of Brunello, and soon after became President of both Tenute di Castelgiocondo and of the Luce della Vite.

Since February 2002, he has served as President of the Società Vigneti di Nugola S.r.l., an innovative wine estate on the Tuscan coast, fruit of a joint venture between the Marchi and Frescobaldi families. More recently, he has served since September 2007, as Vice President of the Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi Società Agricola Srl, with special responsibility for overall production and for land and resources management.

Lamberto is an avid mountain skier and practitioner of moto tours in Africa. He married Eleonora Nesi in 1991, and they have three children, Vittorio (1992), Leonia (1994), and Carlo (1999), to whom he dedicates his free time.
