Roger VICKERY

Chairman, International Brand Growers

Born in Somerset, England in 1948. After language studies in the UK, France and Germany, and a post-graduate in international marketing and finance, Roger moved to Paris as marketing executive for Guinness. Following a short stint in Africa with an economic development agency, he was consultant to several UK firms looking to open up markets across continental Europe opening sales channels and retail. Among these were luxury and fashion names such as Dunhill and Church’s.

In the late 70’s and early eighties he helped with the international launch of Uomo Vogue (Condé Nast Italy), and licensing for Enrico Coveri, Adidas, Le Coq Sportif, and Façonnable. He then took on the vice presidency of Aquascutum in order to restructure the company and licence the brand name. Roger became strategic advisor to several well-known names including Yamaha and Spring Court, providing diagnostics and long-term strategic advice before changing direction.

At 38, Roger went back to school to update his financial studies. He then chaired Crandall Vickery & Co Ltd., in New York, a boutique investment bank, from 1986 to 1994 when he sold the company. His brand management activities have taken him all over the world. He moved to Hong Kong on behalf of several US companies to assess the probable consequences of the changeover and then advised several leading brand names such as Czech & Speake and Morabito on their branding strategies. Since the late 90’s Roger has become a recognised specialist in brands and trade-marks, and in particular those belonging to prestigious cities such as Saint Moritz and Saint-Tropez – a very particular side of brand management – and up-scale sporting events.

Roger sits on the boards of several companies, which have included a champagne house and a hotel real-estate company in Vienna, Austria. He is president of “IBG” (International Brand Growers), which has offices in London, Paris, Montreux and Casablanca and affiliates or partners in several leading cities of the world. Roger speaks four languages fluently and gets by in a few others. Roger is married, has four grown-up children and is based in Paris.
