Pamela FIORI

Editor in Chief , Town & Country

Pamela Fiori made publishing history in May 1993 when she became the first woman to be named editor in chief of Town & Country, America’s oldest continuously published general-interest magazine (established in 1846). Today, under her editorship, Town & Country has become the premier luxury lifestyle magazine in America, edited for the country’s most sophisticated, affluent and accomplished women.
Fiori revitalized Town & Country by expanding the boundaries of the magazine to include a greater variety of topics, voices, personalities and columns. Her focus on health and diversity has elevated the magazine’s stature. “I believe it is vitally important to show the new face of affluence. Today’s wealthy are primarily self-made, from many different cultures and are vastly more intriguing than past generations,” said Fiori.

In recent years, philanthropy has also become a major initiative for the magazine and Fiori is leading the way in the industry. She traveled to Sri Lanka with UNICEF, and to New Orleans to witness and report on the aftermath of the tsunami and Hurricane Katrina for Town & Country.
Prior to her achievements at Town & Country, Fiori was widely credited with the success of American Express Publishing’s Travel & Leisure, which she edited for 14 years. In 1989 she earned the position of executive vice president and editorial director at American Express Publishing Corporation, which included Travel & Leisure, Food & Wine and Departures.
Recently elected to the Board of Directors of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. Fiori is also the founding co-chairperson of the UNICEF Snowflake Project, and received the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award. Fiori has also received many industry awards that reflect her professional accomplishments. She was presented with France’s highest civic honor, the Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite, the National Italian American Foundation’s Award for Special Achievement in Business, Ellis Island Medal of Honor, “Fashion Oracle of the Year” 2004 by Saks Fifth Avenue, and the “Gem Award” from the Jewelry Information Council.
