Luca CORDERO DI MONTEZEMOLO

Chairman and Ceo, Ferrari Spa

Worthy successor of Enzo Ferrari, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo has proved to be a worthy successor of Enzo Ferrari from the moment he was installed at the helm of Italy's most prestigious automaker. He has managed to embark in a virtuous cycle consisting of successes on the industrial level, in relations with suppliers, in production and in the reorganization of the Ferrari racing stable. However, it is primarily in the field of Formula One that he has obtained the most important results, culminating in the recent double win of the Schumacher-Barrichello team at Suzuka in Japan. That race closed the Formula One season and, for the house at Maranello, it meant the conquest of the fourth constructors victory and the fourth consecutive racer's title. After graduating with a degree in law from the university in Rome in 1973, Montezemolo joined Ferrari in 1973 as assistant to the chairman with responsibility for management of sporting events. He secured two victories, in 1975 and 1977, in the world Formula One championship with Niki Lauda as driver. In 1991, after varied professional experience of a high level (Fiat, Cinzano, Azzurra and Italia 90) he returned to Maranello where he took charge as chairman and managing director of Ferrari SpA.
