President, Pitti Immagine

Born in 1952 in Valdagno in the province of Vicenza, he is married with three children.

He has a degree in Business Economics at Bocconi University.

After initially working with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells and Olivetti, respectively in accounts and financial statements auditing and in the IT System Planning, Programming and Control sector; from 1978 to 1980 he was Controller and Assistant to the Administrative and Financial Director at Necchi in Pavia.

From 1980 to 1999 he worked for the Gruppo Marzotto, initially as Controller-Economic Control and Management of the Textile Division and Purchase Centre Services, then as Furnishing Division Director, Marlboro Division Director and Foreign Markets Development Director, and finally as Vice President.

Since 2000 he has been Vice President of J.Hirsch & Co. Management & Consulting S.r.l., the management & consulting company for the private equity investment fund operating in the field of ‘Made in Italy”.

Since 2002, he has been President of Pitti Immagine S.r.l., the company that organises highly successful, longstanding fairs and events in the fashion and lifestyle sectors. According to its statute, Pitti Immagine fairs promote the best expressions of industry and Italian creativity, in a context of international excellence.

They range from men’s fashion (Pitti Uomo is the undisputed leading international event in its sector) to clothing and accessories for children (Pitti Bimbo), from refined women’s fashion (Super) to knitting yarns and fibres (Pitti Filati) and artistic perfumery (Fragranze), to high-quality specialist Italian food and wine (Taste).

With Fondazione Pitti Discovery, the company conceives, produces and organises events and releases publications on the culture and communication of fashion and contemporary art. Pitti Immagine also owns FieraDigitale S.r.l., the company that devised and launched (the digital fair project) and organisers in Italy of Decoded Fashion. Gaetano Marzotto is also President of the Gruppo Vini Santa Margherita and member of the board at Hugo Boss, Zignago Holding and Zignago Vetro, Alpitour, TIPO and GGDB.

In the past he has covered roles at SMI-Sistema Moda Italia, IAF-International Apparel Federation as President and also at CFI-Comitato Fiere Industria.
