Carlo CAPASA

President Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana

A prominent figure in the fashion industry, Carlo Capasa is the President of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the Association of Italian fashion Houses aimed at strength the country’s reputation in the global scenario. Appointed for the first time Councillor of the Camera della Moda Italiana in 2010 and elected President in 2015 and confirmed in 2016, Capasa, has been chosen to orchestrate the re-launch of the Association and he has shaped a strategic vision focused in particular on three pillars: sustainability, digitization and new brands. Capasa developed a successful career in the fashion industry covering key roles in several companies.

Born in Lecce, Apulia, after the studies he moved to Milan where joined FTM to manage the distribution of the company’s Basile, Callaghan, Complice, Walter Albini and Issey Miyake brands. In the early Eighties, he was named Creative Director of Zamasport Spa. Along with this firm, he created a joint venture company taking on the role of Chief Executive Officer from 1984 to 1988 and launching the Romeo Gigli label. Continuing his partnership with Zamasport, in 1993, Capasa established a new company to handle the distribution of Gucci women’s line under the creative direction of Tom Ford. The structure was integrated into the Gucci Group in 2001. In 1986 he founded with his brother Ennio Capasa the luxury fashion firm Costume National, acting as Chief Executive Officer until March 2016, when the company was sold to a Japanese group.
